Fort Farmers' Market Celebrates 10 years

Fort Farmers' Market

The Fort Farmers Market celebrates 10 years with local foods and arts every Saturday from 8am to noon, beginning May 26th! The Farmers Market includes Organic Cheeses, Grass-fed Beef, Organic Chicken, Local Elk, Sausage & Fish, Speciality and Artisan Breads, Honey, Jam, Syrup, Pancake & Bread mixes, plus arts & crafts and more!  It’s all on Milwaukee Street in the Municipal Parking Lot across from the Post Office in downtown Fort Atkinson.  To find out more visit the website www.fortfarmersmarket.com.

Kiss the Pig Contest in Watertown to Benefit Police and Fire


 


Gun's and Hoses presents the Kiss the Pig contest to support the Watertown Police and Fire Departments, July 12 at the Lights and Sirens Riverside Park band shell at 6:30 PM.  Decide which contender you would like to see kiss the pig, donate to their jugs placed around the city or by sending money to the city clerk's office.  The contenders are Police Office Marcie Repta, Assistant Fire Cheif Wandersee and 6th District Alderman John Coughlin.  The deadline for controbutions in July 7th.  For more information contact Pam Capin at 920-285-9208.  The event is sponsored by the Watertown Citizen's Police Academy.

Blood Drive


There will be a blood drive at the East Troy Bible Church, 2660 North Street on May 21st from 10:45am to 5pm. Call 1-800 Red Cross to make an appointment or go to www.redcrossblood.org

PADA's Golf Outing


PADA’s Golf Outing at Spring Creek Golf Course in Whitewater will be June 24th beginning at 11am. All proceeds from this event will go to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Jefferson County. Golf and dinner is available for $35. Call 920-674-6748 with questions. 

St. Patrick of Whitewater Rummage Sale


St. Patrick of Whitewater is having a 2 day rummage sale on June 1st and 2nd held in Berry Hall from 8am to 3pm. This sale will have something for everyone. 

Janesville Golf Classic


Don’t forget to register for the Janesville Golf classic at the Janesville Country Club on Monday, May 21st beginning at 11am. Please register by May 14th by calling 608-755-1871. All proceeds go to benefit Agrace Hospice Care. 

Walworth County Emergency homeless Shelter Golf Outing


The 2012 Walworth County Emergency homeless Shelter Golf Outing Fund Raiser will be June 16th at Evergreen Golf Club. Lunch and registration are at 11am. At noon there will be a shotgun start, and at 5pm there will be a steak dinner cookout with potatoes and salad and a kid’s option. $100 includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, dinner and the raffle. 

Blood Drive in Fort Atkinson


There will be a blood drive at the First United Methodist Church, 320 South Main Street in Fort Atkinson from 1 to 6pm on May 21st. Call 1-800-Red Cross or go to www.RedCrossBlood.org to make an appointment. 

Beloit Janesville Symphony Chamber Orchestra


The Beloit Janesville Symphony Chamber Orchestra will present a historic theatrical concert on Sunday, May 20th at 3pm at Eaton Chapel on the Beloit College campus. Tickets will be available at the door for $15 and $5 for students. 

Group Bike Ride


There will be a group bike ride in Jefferson every Wednesday morning at 7:30am from Riverfront Park. Distance can be anywhere from 15 to 30 miles, with speeds of 12 to 16 miles per hour, and they never leave anyone behind. Everyone is welcome and no registration is required. 

Summer Explorers Program


The Community Kids Learning Centers in Beloit, Delavan and Janesville are now accepting applications for their Summer Explorers Program that will begin in June. Call 608-755-2470 for all the information. 

City of Whitewater Board Openings


The City of Whitewater invites community members to apply to openings on various boards. Interested citizens are asked to complete a Citizen Interest form, which can be obtained from the city clerk or from the city’s website. Contact Michele Smith with questions, 262-473-0500 ext. 202.

Jefferson Pool Open For Adult Lap Swim


The new Jefferson High School pool is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 5 to 7am for adult open lat swim for just $2 a session. Start your day off right with a swim. For more information call 674-5475.

Stroll for Epilepsy


The 20th annual Stroll for Epilepsy will be Saturday, May 19th beginning at 10am at Palmer Park in Janesville. It’s also Armed Forces Day so come out and honor veterans while supporting services to families in Southern Wisconsin coping with seizures.   Get all the info at Janesville stroll dot com. 

Jefferson County Clean Sweep


Jefferson County will be conduction a Clean Sweep on May 19th at the Watertown Street Department 811 South First Street from 8am to 10:30am. There are many appointments available call 920-262-4080. Many household and agricultural hazardous wastes are accepted. Make an appointment early.  

Tour d' Tech


Anyone over the age of 21 is invited to the 2nd annual Tour d’ Tech, an non-motorized, two wheel bike ride around the paved streets of Lake Delavan on May 19th beginning at 11am. Register by calling 262-728-6211. All proceeds will benefit the St. Andrew Parish School’s technology fund. 

Youth Tennis


There will be a youth tennis lesson parent meeting on June 5 at 6pm at the Jefferson City Hall. Tennis is open for kids ages 7 to 18. All the information can be found at www.jeffersonwis.com or by calling 674-7720.

Jefferson Community Garden


The City of Jefferson is excited to announce the first community garden in Jefferson located along West Riverview Drive at Garity Street. Plots are available for $10 each, and require a $50 deposit. Go to Jefferson wis dot com for all the information.

Habitat for Humanity's First Run/Walk


Pound the pavement for Habitat for Humanity at their first Run/Walk on May 19th starting at 8am at the Home Depot in Janesville. Proceeds will be used to support Habitat projects in Rock County. Contact Tammy with questions 608-314-1154.

Cambridge Community Library Plant Sale


The 12th annual plant sale for the Cambridge Community Library will be May 19th from 9 to 3pm at the Amundson Community Center in Cambridge. There will be perennials, annuals, bulbs and more. 

Stream Monitors Needed


If you live near a river or stream you can become a citizen stream monitor. No prior training is necessary the Rock River Coalition will provide training and tools. Sign up for training sessions in May by going to Rock River coalition dot org.

Delevan United Methodist Food Pantry


Help the Delevan United Methodist Church fill their food pantry May 19 and 20th. They invite people to shop, stop and drop off groceries any time. They will also be collecting money to buy nets to stop the spread of malaria around the world. For information call 728-3644.

Whitewater Community-Wide Rummage Sale
